The retreat will begin on the evening of October 7th with a western-themed dinner event. Join us at the reception dressed in your best western gear and enjoy the beautiful nature and rolling hills in an evening under the stars! You won’t want to miss the unique and treasured picture opportunities available at our outdoor venue. Prizes for best dressed and other fun surprises will be available! After dinner, you are free to explore and enjoy the amenities of the resort and casino.
Friday starts off with personal activity or relaxation time prior to brunch. After checking out, you will enjoy a powerful professional development seminar to get you back on your horse! This inspiring address will be delivered by our keynote speaker, Angel Henry, MLIS, MBA, PMP, CSM, a technologist, author, and professor.
In an intimate gathering, Angel Henry will present lessons learned from her first book, Dents in the Ceiling. Dents in the Ceiling is a first-hand account from more than 30 African American women in the technology industry about navigating sexism and racism, establishing allies, and bouncing back resiliently throughout their careers. Angel will share her personal journey and provide attendees with tools women & allies need to break through these barriers. Her message will resonate well across Women & Hi Tech's diverse membership. Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Dents in the Ceiling, which may be signed by Angel after the seminar.
Angel has over 20 years Information Technology (IT) experience, primarily in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, and over 15 years in the project management discipline. Angel has been recognized as a thought-leader on the topic of the Agile Mindset, which fosters an environment of innovation and productivity.
Angel also has a passion for diversity, and her knowledge of why women and minorities are often missing from the tech C-Suite provides awareness for leaders to drive change.
Angel is also a trainer and speaker as well as an Adjunct Instructor in the Indianapolis area helping students realize their full potential in the field of IT. Angel is a member of several professional and community organizations, such as Black Data Processors Association (BDPA), Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF) - Executive, several Agile communities, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Angel is also a wife and mother of two children, ages 11 and 5 years old.
