"So often people are working hard at the wrong thing. Working on the right thing is probably more important than working hard." Caterina Fake, Co-founder, Flickr and Hunch.
Carol has followed a diverse career path in sales, marketing and project management. After graduating from college, she initially developed marketing plans for small businesses and sold the printed materials to support them. After that, she managed a 30 million dollar sales team and organized the daily schedules of more than 40 technicians. In 2008, Carol joined Six Feet Up, a women-owned business that focuses on accelerating the deployment of Python application for their clients. She started as a Project Manager, then moved on to a Dir. of Hosting Services position. As Six Feet Up's current Dir. of Client Services, she coordinates operations for all the company's client activities and keeps the projects focused on their objectives.
Carol is very active in the Open Source community as an evangelist and cheerleader. She helps coordinate the Indianapolis Python user group (IndyPy) monthly meetings and quarterly events, and has served four terms on the Board of Directors for the Plone Foundation.
Carol is active in her daughters Girl Scout Troop, leading science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities and attending events. She enjoys spending her off time with her husband and daughter. Her parents taught her years ago that having a community of people to support you in your efforts makes things so much easier.
Carol’s goal for Women & Hi Tech is to provide ways to improve the engagement with our corporate members. She is looking forward to helping to open lines of communication with our membership that helps them take full advantage of everything Women & Hi Tech has to offer.
